Blessed are the Wicked

DSCN2377

The now ever fading radiance of your smile
That never have I seen, not even for a while
Brightness breeding dullness; whatever‘s in your eye?
Like the eye of an eclipse, a darkness all too bright.

Many shadows all around us but none such as murky
As the one between the elbows buried in the heart
One that once awakened will only tear apart
The insides and outsides of us, me and you…

The heart and the mind together, are never
Perhaps the reason why they thought it clever
To play upon the former yet prey upon the latter
And just for some banter, pray upon the platter

Rising to the heavens was their laughter so wicked
As evil plans they hatched never minding the afflicted
“We’ll use white robes to lure!” their dark plot hastened
“…and hang ‘em by ropes for sure!” accomplice interjected

I often wonder why your treasured guard betrayed
None a sterner lesson these few days have conveyed
The beauty of what isn’t can only be what is
and yet that which is has never quite so been

Perhaps it was the shiny wooden cross put up on display
The Saviour hang on high upon these ghostly white walls
Or maybe the nature creeping about those hallowed halls
The eerie silent atmosphere immaculately fashioned for deceit

Not a tear shed as those eyes stayed dry
Nothing to feed the thirsting throats hoping for some rye
With cold determination you set about your way
In a manner none could ponder nor could fond heart sway

Without fair warning or hint of malice
You descended upon their hatchling, claws drawn to kill
Fighting fire with more fire, burning the house down
Venom upon vengeance, despicable born of kindness

And so now you rest, having lived another day
Since when you turned against your own very way
To be like those you fought, by the ill code abide
For blessed are the wicked, they will survive.
